It's that time of the year when...

Here we go again, all of the Power Companies are offering a short lived Green Initiative rebate for adding insulation in your attic with just a few small qualification and restrictions.  Basic things to remember is that the contractor either must be partnered with the Power provider or the provider must do an inspection of your home before approving your rebate.  Rebates can be a fixed amount, that is paid upon proof of completion by the contractor or a percentage amount based on a formula like, " 3% of the cost of the installation or $500.00 which ever is less."  In any case the "Do-it yourself er" can not apply for the rebate as the power provider wants to insure that the application is completed correctly, and will meet the standards as announced in their initial offering.  My next blog will go into the different types insulation and applications that you should be aware of.
